Joyce Annette Moss, born February 29, 1936, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, just days before her 90th birthday. A longtime resident of Semmes, Alabama, Joyce was the daughter of the late George Ransier and Mary White and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Leon Moss.
Joyce is survived by her children: George Harvey (Darlene) Moss, James Harold (Amanda) Moss, Cynthia Annette (Clarence) Cowart, and Elizabeth Eugenia (Andy) Walsh. She leaves behind a large and loving family of numerous grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, great‑great‑grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as her cherished sisters, Barbara McAdams and Mary Jo Fagerstrom.
A devoted mother and a steady presence in her community, Joyce spent many years driving a school bus for Mobile County before retiring. She was known for her warm smile, her love of quilting and canning, and her remarkable ability to make anyone feel welcome. Joyce never met a stranger—she shared whatever she had with anyone in need and became a second mother to countless neighborhood children who found comfort, guidance, and laughter in her home.
Joyce’s legacy is one of generosity, resilience, and boundless love. Her family and friends will forever remember her open heart, her giving spirit, and the way she made every person feel like family.
